Why fewer people are taking childbirth classes
There’s been a noticeable national decline in people seeking out childbirth education.
And honestly, we totally understand why.
Information is everywhere. You can Google any intervention. You can watch videos about labor positions. You can read breakdowns of pain management options. You can look up hospital policies in seconds.
On the surface, it feels like we don’t need structured preparation anymore.
And here’s the truth.
You actually already have everything you need to give birth. Your body is powerful. It’s wise. It knows how to grow and birth a baby without a class telling it how.
You don’t need a course to birth your baby.
But, it might still be a good idea.
Because birth isn’t a test of what you know about epidurals or delayed cord clamping. It requires you to respond when things shift. When an intervention is suggested. When a position stops working. When intensity rises and your nervous system starts to spike.
You can intellectually understand your options. You can memorize labor positions. You can research every pain management technique available. And that’s a good thing!
But if you’ve never practiced regulating your nervous system, if you’ve never rehearsed decision-making under pressure, if you’ve never embodied surrender and advocacy at the same time, that knowledge will only take you so far.
The difference between leaving birth feeling like it happened to you and leaving feeling powerful actually has very little to do with the exact circumstances.
It has everything to do with how you navigated them.
That kind of preparation doesn’t come from collecting information.
It comes from embodiment.
That’s what we do inside The Birth Prep Circle.
Yes, we cover the physiology. Yes, we talk about interventions, labor positions, and pain management options. But more importantly, we help you integrate it. We practice responding instead of reacting. We build confidence that isn’t dependent on everything going perfectly, but rooted in your ability to move through whatever unfolds.
You don’t need us to make you capable.
But birth is a big deal - and you deserve all the support you can get to help you meet the experience with grace and power.
In case you haven’t heard, our next cohort begins March 30, which is a great fit for late spring and summer due dates. Early bird registration pricing is currently available through February 28, with the price increasing on March 1.
If you’ve been on the fence, consider this your nudge. We’d be honored to walk with you on this journey.
Always in your corner,
